The tacit endorsement of the reelection bid of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, affectionately referred to as Chairman Wontumi, by the various constituencies is a total reflection of the voices of the grassroots.

According to some constituency executives, their overwhelming endorsement of the reelection bid of Chairman Wontumi, was not done for personal reasons or material gains, rather, was based on the general feeling of the masses across the region.

In the view of Sekyere Afram Plains constituency Chairman, the regional Chairman for now represents the soul of the party, and therefore, any move to replace him with any other person in this contest is an opportunity to arm the NDC with the teeth to bite NPP again.

According to the Juaben Chairman, it is important that the party remember the mess they came from, and reward those whose sacrifices brought the NPP back to the corridors of power.

"At a time when almost everybody had given up; when the then ruling NDC took over Ashanti and made NPP suffer in their own stronghold, it took Chairman Wontumi to lead the charge and return confidence to supporters of the party", Mr. Addai Poku Aikins, Bosomtwe constituency Chairman indicated.

To him, their endorsement was not based on any financial inducement but the resolve to consolidate our gains in the region, in 2020 and beyond.

He said every executive member was independent and financially sound to succumb to any pressure, adding that they see a brighter future under the continue leadership of Wontumi.

He also explained that the GHc 5,000 donated to each of the constituenciees by the regional Chairman, was to support the effective running of the various offices in the constituencies, particularly after just returning from elections.

Dispensers were also donated together with the cash by the regional Chairman to the constituencies visited so far.
