Money-Doubler Fetish Priest Busted For Defrauding Businessman

Amasaman District Police Command in the Greater Accra Region have arrested a fetish priest, Nana Ali based at Ablorman-Opah, a suburb of Nsawam in the Eastern Region, for allegedly dealing in money doubling.

The suspect, according to the police, was arrested for allegedly extorting sums of money from one Mr Samuel Akrofi, under the guise of multiplying the amount twenty- times for the victim.

The arrest of Nana Ali, followed the official report lodged at the Amasaman District Police Command by the victim, Mr. Samuel Akrofi in which he alleged that Nana Ali defrauded him an amount of GH¢7,000 with the promise to make him rich.

The Amasaman District Police Command, Chief Superintendent, Mr. Nyribaare Francis, who confirmed the case to Today, said the victim reported the matter to his outfit on Wednesday, 4th April, 2018.

According to the commander, the suspect promised to assist him spiritually to establish his own business.

He said during the encounter, Nana Ali reportedly told Mr Samuel Akrofi that if he gave him GH¢7,000 he (Nana Ali) could multiple it twenty-times for him.

“In order to show his spiritual prowess, Nana Ali allegedly conjured several dollar notes in the presence of Mr Samuel Akrofi who became convinced that his money could really be multiplied,” the commander explained.

He added that the complainant in his bid to establish his own business did readily part away with the sum of GH¢7,000 to the suspect to be multiplied.

The police added that a week later, Nana Ali allegedly conjured several dollar notes and gave them to Mr. Samuel Akrofi with the promise that it would multiply twenty folds. But the dollar notes turned out to be fake.

He said when the complainant confronted the spiritualist over the issue, he did not show any form of remorse and was at that stage that it dawned on the complainant that he had been defrauded.

After several fruitless attempts by the victim to retrieve his money from the spiritualist, he reported the matter to the Amasaman District Police Command who are now investigating the matter.

The police officer said the suspect will be arraigned before Amasaman Circuit Court tomorrow, Thursday, April 12, 2018 to answer a charge of defrauding by false pretenses.

Meanwhile, Today’s investigations at Ablorman-Opah in Nsawam have revealed that this was not the first time Nana Ali had allegedly duped unsuspecting Ghanaians with the pretext to spiritually help them establish their own businesses.

The suspect denied ever extorting any such amount from the complainant. However, he admitted that Mr Samuel Akrofi was his client.
