Comments Against Mahama: Kweku Baako Scolds Amewu

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Kwaku Baako Jnr, has condemned Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu for calling ex-President John Mahama a conman.

Describing the minister’s comment as “completely out of order”, Mr Baaku said the ex-President is a statesman who deserves some respect.

“Mahama is a former president and a statesman; for that matter, for a minister to call him a conman, I think it’s completely out of order. He is a statesman and should be accorded as such,” he said.

Mr Baako’s comment follows Lands and Natural Resource Minister, Amewu’s labelling of ex-President Mahama as a “conman” who failed to salvage Ghanaians from the effects of illegal mining.

Mr. Amewu also described the ex-president as a failure who is unfit to advise Nana Akufo-Addo’s government.

But reacting to the issue on Metro TV Wednesday, Mr. Baako said the minister’s statement was unfortunate.

“President Mahama was only playing on the emotions of the galamseyers; both the small-scale miners and the galamseyers. I knew at some point, he was referring to the small-scale miners and at another point it was illegal miners,” he said.

But Mr. Baako chided former President Mahama for practising what he describes as ineffective communication on the political platform.

That notwithstanding, he wants all big men behind illegal mining arrested and prosecuted to complement the fight against illegal mining.
