"It Is Ugly . . . Hajia Fati Must Personally Show Remorse" - Nsawam MP

NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has expressed disgust over the behaviour of Hajia Fati at the party's headquarters.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' pogramme, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh condemned the party's fiery woman for assaulting a journalist at the headquarters.

The assault occurred after Hajia Fati forcefully prevented Sammy Crabbe, a suspended official of the party from picking up forms to contest for the NPP’s chairmanship position.

Adom FM's Reporter Ohemaa Sekyiwaa narrating the incident in an interview on 'Kokrokoo' on Tuesday stated that she "only went there to do my job and didn't flout any law as I was cooperative. The atmosphere was not too friendly so I wanted to capture the environment. As soon as I took out my camera, Hajia Fati smashed my phone and heavily punched me. We are currently looking at the law to possibly take a legal action against her".

But to Hajia, she chose to exhibit her feministic muscles because she thought the reporter was Sammy Crabbe’s understrapper who has been contracted by her boss to take pictures of her for ulterior motives, adding that she looked more like an “onion seller” than a reporter.

“The woman standing there did not look like a reporter. I thought it was one of Sammy Crabbe’s women who wanted to take pictures of me. The lady did not look like a reporter. She resembled an onion seller. She did not look like a reporter at all,” Hajia Fati said in an interview.

Hon. Annoh-Dompreh asked the party to condemn in no uncertain terms the assault by Hajia, saying journalism "has gone through an evolution, a very torturous one . . . So anybody who tries to do close to that which brings a picture of how journalists or journalism was maltreated, the struggle that journalism has gone through from the dawn of independence of our country up till now. So when someone does something like that, it brings back certain unpleasant memories that we don’t want to be associated with it”.

“We’re all condemning it but she’s a very strong-willed woman. The political party is a mass movement of people, all kinds of characters. And every character is important. Her demeanor and her passion, and strength; it’s something that the party, we put value on them but in this occasion, she didn’t comport herself. It is bad. It is ugly and she shouldn’t have done anything like that . . . She must personally show remorse”, he insisted.
