Ghana's Andre and Jordan Ayew are on the verge of becoming only the second brothers to go down with an EPL team following Huddersfield's 1-1 stalemate with Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Terriers' draw at Chelsea means the Ghanaian top players' side need a final day miracle to survive - with their seven-year stint in the Premier League almost certainly coming to an end.

Huddersfield needed a point to move out of reach of Swansea City - and achieved that despite Marcos Alonso canceling out Laurent Depoitre's opener.

Huddersfield moved to 37 points with the draw at Stamford Bridge, taking them out of the reach of Swansea's 33.

It means that Swansea can now only catch Southampton on the final day of the season - but an inferior goal difference makes that scenario highly unlikely.

The Saints are three points clear of the Swans - with Mark Hughes' side sitting on 36 points.

It all means that if Swansea City are to stay in the Premier League for next season, they need to beat Stoke on the last day and hope that Southampton fail to move off that 36 points mark.

For the Ayews, who led Swansea's attack in the 1-0 defeat by Southampton on Tuesday, there is something extra at stake - they could become only the second pair of brothers in Premier League history to be relegated playing for the same team.

The first were Martin and Marcus Olsson at Blackburn Rovers in 2012, under the guidance of Steve Kean.

The Ayew brothers have become somewhat synonymous with the wrong half of the table since they moved to England in the summer of 2015, when Andre first joined Swansea and Jordan arrived at Aston Villa.

Villa went down that season, finishing last with only 17 points and while Ayew was their leading scorer that campaign, he topped the scoring charts with only seven goals.

He stayed until January 2017, when Swansea moved to bring him to Wales in a £5m deal.

Andre, 28, two years older than Jordan, was at West Ham then - his first Swansea spell ran for the 2015-16 season before the Hammers signed him for £20m - and he returned to Wales in January in an £18m move. He is yet to score since during his second run at the club.
