A trader who stole the pay slip of a teacher and used it to secure a loan from a financial institution in Accra was on Tuesday sentenced to six years' imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court. Isaac Odoom, aka Stephen, pleaded guilty to stealing. The prosecutor, Inspector Michaels Jubiok said in October this year, Odoom went to Akufo Hall at the University of Ghana, Legon, and stole the pay slip of Mr. Abaven Sampson Tampori, a teacher in Navrongo in the Upper East Region. Mr. Tampori realised that his pay slip was missing and later found that his salary credited to his account at the bank was less by GH121.00. The prosecution said Mr. Tampori proceeded to the Controller and Accountant-General's Department to lodge a complaint, he was told that he had secured a loan from Utrak Financial Service, a financial institution. Inspector Jubiok said Mr. Tampori went to Utrak Financial Service where he was shown the photograph of the accused as the one who took the loan with his pay slip. On December 12, when Odoom went to the offices of Utrak Financial Service with four other persons the bank officials arrested him and handed him over to the Police at Legon.
