Ipad Robber Gets 15 Years

A 19-year-old driver, Abdul Rashid Zuberu, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment in hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court for robbing a woman of her Ipad at knifepoint.

The convict attacked one Mamame Esi Abbam, a human resource manager, with a kitchen knife and made away with the Ipad valued at GH¢350.00

Zuberu, who is also a labourer, was hauled before the court on the charge of robbery.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was subsequently convicted on his own plea by the court, presided over by Aboagye Tandoh.

The court considered his guilty plea and the fact that he was a first-time offender.

The prosecution told the court that the convict, who worked in the complainant’s house on May 5, 2018, stormed the house with his two friends, who were wielding kitchen knife and cutlass.

The court heard that the convict and his accomplice threatened the victim in the house and took the Ipad afterwards.

He later admitted the offence in his caution statement during police interrogations.
