Work Begins In Earnest On The Mampong–Kofiase Road

Residents in Kofiase, Asaam, Nwaama, Penteng, Nwaase, Dadiase and Nwaadan can now breathe a huge sigh of relief as the 14 Kilometer road linking these communities to Asante Mampong is seeing a major facelift as work has started to turn the road to a modern first class road.

Hon. Thomas Appiah Kubi in an interview with Peacefmonline.com after paving way for the construction works to begin stated that it was sight to behold knowing that at long last road construction machines were on the road working and hinted that the contractor has assured him that the work could be completed in six months time.

He reserved special praise for the President of the nation for his personal interest in the Mampong–Kofiase road and other roads earmarked for renovation  in the municipal and the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon Amoako Atta, for his relentless efforts in ensuring that the road gets the attention and facelift it deserved.

The President’s representative further acknowledged the efforts of all past MCE’s, traditional leaders especially Nwaase Dikro, Nana Agyei Bonsafo and Asaamhene Nana Sarfo Nyamaa and the current Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency .

Hon. Appiah Kubi called on Ghanaians everywhere to support the NPP government to deliver and make Ghana more beautiful, and safer as Nana Akufo-Addo was bent on delivering all his promises which includes good and motorable roads.

Residents staying along that stretch of road and vehicles that ply the road have had to deal with the dust the enters their cars as well as their homes during the harmattan season.

The story is not different during the rainy season because the clayey nature of the untarred road makes it very slippery and difficult for drivers to drive on.

The deplorable nature of the road has forced drivers to sometimes overload passengers and charge unapproved fares as few drivers ply that road as against the high numbers of commuters.

Nwaase Dikro Nana Agyei Bonsafo, expressed his gratitude to the people of Kofiase and surrounding communities for their patience and their believe in them.

He indicated that it was the joy of every leader to see that their subjects enjoyed their share of the National cake.

Nana Agyei reiterated the MCE’s call for support for the government to deliver on all of its campaign promises and recounted the part he played in ensuring that the construction of the road saw the light of the day.

A number of people interviewed expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the MCE Hon Thomas Appiah Kubi and the Chiefs for their selfless leadership and desire to see the municipality progress.

They noted that when completed, they would be able to convey their farm produce to the Mampong Wednesday Market easily without much hustle as they were currently going through.
