Head Teacher Remanded For Defiling Two Year Old Girl

A 35 year old head teacher alleged to have defiled a two year old girl at Achiase in the Ejisu Municipality has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaso Circuit.

Asare Attah Gilbert who pleaded not guilty to defilement is said to have inserted his finger into the vagina of the victim.

He would reappear before the court, presided over by Mr Yusif Assibey on June 13, this year.

Police Detective Inspector Victoria Afaribea Mensah, prosecuting, said the incident happened on May 24.

She said the complainant, Jocelyn Kankam was the mother of the victim who was a pupil of the accused.

She explained that the victim returned from school on that fateful day at about 1600 hours and was finding it difficult to pass urine due to excessive pain in the vagina.

The complainant who became curious after a closer observation noticed blood coming out of the victim’s private part.

Suspecting that the victim had been sexually abused, she rushed her back to the school to inform authorities about the situation but the accused who happens to be the head teacher asked the complainant whether the victim had mentioned anyone responsible for the dastardly act to which she said no.

Accused then told the complainant that the school could not take responsibility for the crime since no one in the school had been mentioned.

Prosecution said the complainant took the victim to hospital for treatment where the medical doctor told the complainant that the victim had been defiled since her hymen had been broken.

The victim after leaving the hospital told her mother that the accused had inserted his finger into her vagina.

She reported the case to the Ejisu Police, leading to the arrest of the accused who denied the offence in his caution statement.
