Effiduase-Asokore MP Gives 5,000 Math Sets To BECE Candidates

New Patriotic Party [NPP] Member of Parliament [MP] for Effiduase-Asokore constituency, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has given out over 5,000 mathematical sets to BECE candidates in his constituency to motivate them to come out with flying colours.

Final year pupils in all private and public Junior High Schools across the country are currently writing their BECE exams.

A total of 509,824 final-year Junior High School (JHS) students will write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The figure represents an increase of 41,771 over last year’s figure of 468,053 candidates.

The 2018 candidates are from 16,060 public and private basic schools and are made up of 263,295 males and 246,529 females.

In a short ceremony to present the mathematical sets to the students, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie advised candidates on the Dos and Don’ts during examinations.

According to him, the gesture is “an initiative to show the commitment of the NPP government to education and my commitment to education as well.”

The lawmaker however noted that, preparations are underway to supply all Junior High School and Senior High School students in his constituency with mathematical sets.

“Within the next two years I will donate mathematical sets to all including the teachers so they can all benefit to enjoy education under this government,” he said. 

Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie also noted that there will be a scholarship package for brilliant but needy students to further their education.
