Interior Minister Ambrose Dery has told parliament that government is still investigating the disappearance of George Kormla Ackorley.

He said a search party which is made up of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces were commissioned to lead the search for George Kormla Ackorley, but has since not been found.

“The search party, with assistance from the people of Alavanyo, searched the surrounding farmlands in the community but to no avail,” he stated.

George Kormla Ackorley a native of Soviepe Deme in the Ho West District disappeared during the celebration of the annual SASADU celebration in 2017 and has still not been found.

“The team extended the search to his hometown, Soviepe Deme in the Ho West District where evidence was established that a person who identified himself as Lucifer used Mr Ackorley’s mobile phone to contact one Abena Ackorley who is the daughter of Mr Ackorley,” the minister said whilst answering questions from the member of parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah.

Mr Ambrose Dery further stated that efforts by the security agencies to trace the said Lucifer yielded no results.

“Mr Speaker, I must state that investigations are ongoing and the Ghana Police Service will do its best to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of George Kormla Ackorley,” the minister noted.

When asked whether he can say George Kormla Ackorley is dead, the Interior Minister stated that the life of every Ghanaian is valuable to the President of Ghana “and one life lost is a great loss to us and we will not, we shall not and we cannot declare him dead.”
