The Ghana Football Association (GFA) office remains locked up with no activity as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the premises for investigations into alleged corrupt practices of some FA officials including Kwesi Nyantakyi.
GNA Sports’ visit to the GFA premises Monday, saw the gate locked with security presence at the premises as the CID were held up in a meeting upstairs according to the security man on duty.
Workers were not allowed entry into the premises of the GFA, to embark on their daily activities.
According to a release from the police department, “only people permitted by the police are supposed to be at the GFA, we are protecting the premises from contamination because we have started investigations into all documents at the GFA Offices”.
The police noted that they are investigating into corruption, which has seen the embattled GFA President, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi resigning from all his post in the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the WAFU Zone B as President.
It would be recalled that Mr. Nyantakyi was caught on camera negotiating a sponsorship deal for the Ghana premier league in a fraudulent manner, which has prompted the police to say that “all officials of the FA would be invited to help in investigating some documents including referees and even some journalist”.
Nyantakyi was appointed president of the GFA in 2005 and has since gone on to become the First Vice President of CAF, President of WAFU Zone B and an Executive Council Member at FIFA.
