The executives of the Western Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have overwhelmingly endorsed Sammy Awuku, who is vying for National Organizer position of the party in the National Delegates’ Conference slated from 6-8 July, 2018.
The executives stated that that they took the decision after extensive consultation with delegates from all the 26 constituencies in the region. Addressing a press conference in Takoradi yesterday, the Regional Organizer of the NPP, Mohammed Abdul Ganiyu, disclosed that Sammi Awuku has the leadership skills to help the NPP retain power in the next general elections and beyond.
“So all the executives of the party in the 26 constituencies and regional executives came together and agreed to support Sammi Awuku to become the next national organizer of our dear party,” he added.
He noted that as an experienced communicator and civic leader, Sammi Awuku has proven to be a true champion and voice of the NPP.
“After his illustrious service to the youth and leading the greatest youth mobilization effort in Ghana for the 2016 victory of the NPP, our faith in him remains unshaken,” he indicated.
He continued, “We believe Sammi Awuku will continue the fight against the opposition NDC’s populism and help consolidate the gains of the NPP.”
Mohammed Ganiyu noted that Sammy Awuku worked with all persons, regardless of their background, religion and gender as national youth organizer of the NPP.
“He also chose his deputies from the Northern and Western regions. This demonstrated his commitment to the values of regional balance in our party.”
The Regional Youth Organizer disclosed that in 2016, the energetic and hardworking Mr Awuku campaigned vigorously with members of the Western Regional branch of the NPP.
He described Sammy Awuku as a marketing and communications professional with invaluable experience.
He indicated that Sammi Awuku has maintained fruitful relationships with persons in the NPP and beyond, adding “and we know this is the beginning.”
According to Ganiyu, Sammy Awuku solicited funds for the activities of the NPP which faced complex budgetary constraints during the 2016 elections.
“We are convinced that Sammi Awuku has what it takes to be the National Organizer of the NPP. He is experienced in organizing people and resources for both political and civic action,” he added.
