“Power Has A Way Of Tricking People Even Of Good Intentions” – Former Prez. J.A. Kufuor

Former President of the republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor has advised that authorities in power be careful with the discrepancies made between their position and intended plans.

Explaining further, he warned that good intentions could swiftly be overlooked when power takes over the mind of the person in authority; therefore one should be focused in serving his party and Ghana than focusing on the seat he/she occupies.

“…. But fellow party men and women, power has a way to trick people even of good intentions; power they say corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely , so at every time even as we make progress under the current government, we must be watchful of our actions”

He continued “...For as I have said, power can trick you and if you are not careful it will make you become complacent, conceited, discriminatory e.t.c. …You do not need to critically look at the grassroots only and as an old uncle and an elder I have come just only to remind our leadership and all of us within the party that we are only one and half years into power and needs more strength and hard work to move ahead as wished”.

Speaking at the NPP national delegates’ conference, 2018 held at the Koforidua Technical University, he praised the Akufo-Addo led administration of performing tremendously in the past that has fairly shown on the international market as well local countries.

Former President Agyekum Kufuor emphatically stated in his speech that four years is too short for this government to work as planned to change this nation but they will do their best, therefore he called on delegates and party members to swallow individual egos and vanities for the greater growth of their party and humanity at large to see their party move forward as it wins on countless occasions the national elections, to become the party of the nation.

“Unfortunately for us the tenure of office of our government is too short, we have only four years and you don’t change the world within four years but we want to change the world and transform Ghana through a very solid and united party as beyond courage with great missions and policies” he outlined.
