Koforidua and its suburbs have returned to its normal state barely 48 hours after the close of the 26th edition of the annual delegates congress of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

   The posters and billboards that flooded Koforidua and premises of the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) from the main Accra-Koforidua highway through the schools’ entrance and its environs had all been removed with a few on the street light post and private containers dotted along the route.

    When GNA visited the school on Monday, the heavy pile of rubbish and dirt that engulfed the entire campus had been cleared and students were going about their routine activities.

   The dais and the canopies had all been dismantled while the mini market that was created at the centre of the school which saw over 200 traders making sales at the congress had been closed and not even a table was seen at the site.

   The congress grounds where the over 6,000 delegates including ministers of state, parliamentarians and other government appointees converged to cast their votes had been cleared of everything and some students were playing football.

   The sight of vehicles branded in the NPP colours and posters of the various aspirants as at Monday was vanished and only a few private cars had the flags and other paraphernalia of the party displayed.

   NPP branded vehicles that were lined up at the various hotels where the delegates and party supporters lodged had all left and the hotel activities had come back to normal

   Over 20,000 party supporters apart from the delegates converged at the KTU between Thursday and Sunday to support their respective candidates in the congress that saw Mr. Freddy Blay being elected as the Party Chairman for the next four years.
