Kaywa has accused songstress Kati G of stealing his beat.
A statement by the Highly Spiritual music label on Monday indicated that the beat which is being used in Kati G’s ‘Na You’ song is meant for a song by the label’s new artiste called Krymi.
However, before the song could come out, Kati G has already released a song titled ‘Na You’ with the same beat.
“Highly Spiritual music wants to alert the public that Kati G has stolen and used a beat meant for our singer Krymi for his yet-to-be released debut single,” the statement revealed.
“Dat Beat God who is also signed unto the Highly Spiritual music label produced Krymi’s yet to be released song title ‘Dede’,” it further stated.
Efforts to however reach Kati yesterday for comment proved futile but she was reported to have said that she received the said ‘stolen beat’ from a former team member of the Highly Spiritual music label called Greg Ankrah.
“Highly Spiritual would want to state categorically that the said song by Kati G titled: ‘Na You’ featuring Reynolds does not have the approval from the label founder and owner Kaywa on the use of the beat.”
“She did not seek permission from anybody from the Highly Spiritual music team neither did she even reach out. The beat used in the Kati G’s song is a Highly Spiritual property. She does not have the permission to use it in anyway,” it added.
Meanwhile, the statement revealed that Krymi will still go ahead to release his song with the same beat.
Kati G is not new to the music scene. She is being around.
Born Catherine Eno Adutchummwa Owusu-Sakyi, she is known by her stage name Kati G. She is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, record producer, cellist and vocal actress. At the age of eight, Catherine began her music career when she decided to learn how to play the cello and clarinet. The following year, she decided to focus on specialising in one of the instruments. The instrument she chose was the cello. Within the next 15 years, she groomed herself into a cellist. Although she studied the cello for many years, her passion for music also pushed her to pursue skills in rapping, singing, composing and producing music. Those musical talents of hers eventually gained her admission into Berklee College of Music.
While attending Berklee College of Music in the USA, Catherine furthered her studies in the cello but eventually decided to change from the instrument to vocals. Aside vocal training, she received a bachelor’s degree in Music Business & Management. Her focus was primarily on skills, concepts and methodologies necessary to manage the legal, financial, artistic and ethical issues of a contemporary music business professional. Her professional experience after college includes working for Boneau/Bryan~Brown, Sony Music Entertainment and the American Society of Composers, and Authors and Publishers (aka ASCAP). She currently has a number of songs in the system. It is, however, her first time of being accused of stealing a beat.
