Three persons have been given a GH¢20,000.00 bail with one surety each by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly beating up a taxi driver.
All the three sureties must be public officers earning not less than GH¢700.00.
Ato Donkor, David Nuguatey and Kofi Awuni pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and causing unlawful harm.
They are expected back in Court on July 30.
Police Chief Inspector Francis Tassan told the Court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh that Nuguatey, 32 is a driver whereas Donkor, 31 and Awuni, 27 are mechanic apprentices.
Abib Annas, the victim is a taxi driver, living at Amasaman whilst the accused lives at Lapaz, all suburbs of Accra.
Prosecution said on July 3, at about 2000 hours, Annas had closed from work and was heading home when the BWM saloon car the accused were travelling in stopped suddenly on reaching Shiashie-Airport.
The taxi hit it but without any damages caused, Chief Inspector Tassan explained.
Donkor, Nuguatey and Awuni got out of their car and attacked Annas, beating him severely and in the process led to a dislocation in Annas’ knee.
The Prosecution said that fortunately for Annas, the joint Military/Police patrol team chanced on the incident where they arrested the three accused.
He said Annas who could not walk was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment and a formal complaint was lodged with the police.
After investigations the accused were charged and put before Court.
