Kotoko Wins Tafo Ohumkan Cup

A 56th minute penalty converted by captain Amos Frempong ensured that Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated Division Two side Susubiribi SC by a lone goal to win the Akyem Tafo Ohumkan festival cup at the Tafo Rovers Park.

The penalty occurred when Susubiribi SC defender, William Apenteng fouled Kotoko attacker Frederick Boateng in the 18 yard box.

Susubiribi could have taken the lead in the first half but all their efforts were wasted in front of goal, bringing the first half to a goalless draw.

All efforts by the Susubiribi players to equalise proved futile as they could not utilise the few chances they created in the second half.

However, Kumasi Asante Kotoko held on to the one goal advantage to be crowned champions of the Akyem Tafo Ohumkan football match.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, after the match captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Amos Frempong said, though the match was a friendly encounter, it was very competitive.

He said, he thought Kotoko was going to have a walk over because they were playing a second Division side, but that was not the case.
