Mabel Cudjoe, Director of Research at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has indicated that innovation and creativity are key elements of every nation’s economic development.
According to her, the One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy would receive a major boost if entrepreneurs research market trends and employ creativity and innovation to manufacture products that address the challenges of society.
Mrs. Cudjoe, who represented the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Abelema Afeku at the 4th Graduation, Speech and Prize Giving Day for staff and pupils of Cherryfield Montessori School located at Pokuase, near Nsawam, disclosed that people have evolved new ideas which address their fears and make life easier.
The event was under the theme, ‘Creativity and Innovation: An Indispensable Tool for Nation Building.’
“A lot of the products in architecture, fashion, food processing and packaging, among others, were produced by creative and innovative minds who worked to solve society’s challenges besides being avenues for creating opportunities for employment,” she added.
Creativity is all about taking a fresh look at what is normally taken for granted to give that a new image, according to her.
Nation-building involves people with different languages and religion, among others, coming together with a common interest to solve challenges of the nation through the introduction of fresh ideas, she disclosed.
The director, who congratulated staff and management of the school for providing quality basic education in the catchment area, urged staff and pupils to take advantage of opportunities to research for fresh ideas which would make them change agents.
“Creativity cuts across all learning disciplines, and it’s for educators to nurture these in children,” she added.
Madagdalene Dzifa Adzanu-Atiase, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the School, reiterated that her outfit focuses on training the entirety of the human being.
According to her, creativity and innovation would always create job opportunities to enrich individuals to contribute to the economic development of the country.
“China, Malaysia, Singapore, among others, are fast emerging as key business hubs for the world as a result of their keen interest in applying innovation in technology and other sectors of their economies; this for us at home should serve as a clarion call,” she said.
