A youth group within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has praised a music band for joining in the ranks of the masses to support Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
“We as NDC youth, who are carrying out the crusade to win over the masses for our party again salute your honesty and boldness. You have joined a long line of people on the ground, including fishermen who see that the way forward for our party is with Mr Bagbin as our leader,”
In a News release signed by Mr Kingsley Ohene, Secretary of the group:, ‘Youth for NDC Victory’ they praised the musicians, for expressing their support for the respected MP for Nadowli-Kaleo through music.
Pointing to the support given by ‘the musicians to Mr Alban Bagbin however, Kingsley Ohene said Mr Bagbin was more popular in the flagbearership race.
He said, two songs – “Vote for Bagbin” and “Come and Save Ghana,” which were launched by a group of musicians in Keta over the weekend genuinely showed that the Nadowli Kaleo MP had genuine support among the masses.
“It is not only the musicians who have come out to support Mr Bagbin, fishermen, and market women have also expressed support for the man who is known to be very incorruptible.”
“We as a party are preparing to elect a leader who must be able to lead us into victory in the upcoming election irrespective of his geographical background and ethnicity and the NDC needs a personality who can be sold to the people beyond the NDC in order to win the elections.”
He said Mr Bagbin had so much support, not only within the party, but in the country, to the extent that fishermen and market women had openly expressed support for him.
The support by the musicians therefore dovetails much more support on the ground for Bagbin, Kingsley Ohene said.
“But we will not tolerate the situation where our efforts will be thwarted from within the party itself. Mr Bagbin is the people’s choice and he deserves the support of our leaders.
“Mr Bagbin’s performance as minority leader, majority leader, minister for health and minister for water resources, Works and Housing alone is far more superior to that of the other flagbearer hopefuls, his pedigree is high and that is why he is respected in both local and international circles, Mr Bagbin is the best for NDC 2020 and we will urge NDC delegates across the country to vote for him.” Kingsley Ohene said.
