Akufo-Addo's "Ineffectiveness Causing Chaos" - Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia is laying blame at the doorstep of President H. E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo for Monday's shameful incident that occured at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

He accuses the president of placing the nation under ransom following what he considers to be the latter's "ineffectiveness" in handling the country’s security matters.

A pro-NPP group known as the Coalition of Concerned NPP Youth on Monday, 13th August, 2018, chased out of office the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), Dr. David Zaawumya Kolbila.

In what can best be described as a brazen attack that shocked and frightened hospital staff and health seekers, over five unarmed members of the group stormed boldly into the only referral facility in the country’s north. They burst into the CEO’s office and locked it up after ejecting him alongside a director of administration and a female secretary.

The party vigilante force accused the CEO of adopting a habit of issuing threats to staff, engaging in procurement breaches, neglecting the purchase of key hospital consumables such as examination gloves, needles and syringes, and illegal transfer of drugs to stock his private hospital and incompetence.

Among other issues, they also accused him of travelling to China without handing over to the next in command.

In a video of the attack, the attackers were seen asking the CEO and other occupants of the office to pack and leave. The CEO was made to clear his table and paraded out down the three-story complex amidst unrestrained verbal denigrations.

A similar incident played out on February 23, 2017.

On that day, the pro-NPP group known as the Northern Young Patriots, demanded the immediate dismissal of the Tamale Teaching Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Prosper Akambong.

The group’s Chairman, Bashiru Baba at a news conference in Tamale, accused Dr. Akambong of superintending over corruption, nepotism and abuse of human rights of staff.

They also claimed that Dr. Prosper Akambong reduced the major referral health facility to a death trap.

Call Your Trained Boys To Order

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme, Mr Asiedu Nketia believed if the government had adopted a firm policy against similar acts of vigilantism recorded a couple of months ago, the situation would not have degenerated to this level.

"I can tell you that a similar thing happened in the Brong Ahafo region last week where a police officer was badly injured and the life of Hon Collins Dauda was nearly snuffed out of him by some vigilante group.

"Nana Addo should call his trained boys to order before things gets out of hand," he cautioned.

Tamale Hospital CEO Reinstated Amidst Heavy Security.

In a related development, the embattled CEO of the TTH has been re-instated, Peacefmonline.om can confirm.

The Regional Security Council led by the Minister, Salifu Saeed, went to the major referral hospital in the North to restore law and order after the group known as Khandahar Boys locked out the CEO and sacked other management members.

The Minister promised to beef up security at the hospital to prevent the perennial disturbances instigated by party footsoldiers.
