The Health Legendary Honours Africa

Having taking a historic step by setting a distinct platform to appreciate the most outstanding healthcare & wellness trailblazers with Gold, whiles influencing significant development in the HELEH sector in Africa, Ghana’s First Lady H.E Rebecca Akuffo Addo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Dr Mae Carol Jemison, Dr Ola Orekunrin (Flying Doctors), Dr Ken Aboah, Didier Drogba, the Republic of Cuba, the Republic of Rwanda and others are the next batch of notable health development Crusaders and advocates to receive the 2018 Health Africa Honours.

Media Men Ghana and Associates Health Africa Foundation, Brands Ambassador Africa Foundation, KUABA MMO FOUNDATION and HOPE NEST FOUNDATION officialy opened nominations for the second edition of the HELEH Legendary Honours -Africa (HELEH AFRICA 2018) on the 3rd of May this year, as per the policy of the world class coverted awards initiative, so as to enable the “public” to make their choices by nominating deserving candidates for the various categories.

With the quest and distinct potentials to match the Grammy’s in glitz and glamour amidst high-level credibility by its third edition, HELEH Africa is poised to maintain a prestigious culture of assembling approximately 100 most outstanding patrons of the health industry from all walks of life across Africa including Africans in the diaspora, whose contribution significantly promotes development of the health industry, and have been keenly nominated by the general public and celebrate them with 18 & 24 karats goldmedals in its third edition. Hence, the 43 goldmedals awarded in the maiden edition has been increased to 60 goldmedals/categories this year and it’s expected to hit the target base of 100 goldmedals /categories next year, as per the event’s policy. This event strategically targets not only health professionals/entities but also any individual or organization whose engagements impacts the said industry positively and largely inspires it’s development.

Birthed on the laps of the noble king of the Golden stool, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in Kumasi – the Golden Kingdom of Ghana, HELEH AFRICA-PCP HONOURS is an annual quality healthcare and wellness crusade and a People's Choice awards initiative widely referred to as “PCP - Honours”. It’s a Pan-African Health festival of honours earmarked with distinct general healthcare and wellness initiatives seeking to unite African health trailblazers and key health stakeholders to network through building capacity for quality healthcare & wellness delivery among peers, celebrate excellence whiles influencing quality healthcare infrastructural development across Africa to foster socioeconomic enhancement.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Benedicta Ohene-Manu, Managing Director of Media Men Ghana, acknowledged the focus of this year’s honours as it takes turn to broaden its scope to the whole of Africa. She noted that, health practitioners and facilities including individuals and corporate organizations across Africa whose contribution promote quality wellness and healthcare delivery are eligible and are invited to apply for the categories they deem qualified for.

We believe that, the wealth of a nation rests in the minds of its people, likewise a continent. Hence, if indeed healthy minds lives in healthy bodies, then to build a wealthy Africa, we first need to ensure healthy Africans to embody the required healthy,wealthy and creative minds to duly build the flourishing Africa we seek.
Per this fact, HELEH Africa was duly launched in 2016 and successfully staged it’s maiden edition in April 2017, to primarily interlink the health, social and corporate sectors to celebrate excellence and diligence in the Healthcare and development. The noble king and Royal Life Patron of the novelty amidst glitz and glamour decorated with honour deserving awardees who were Africa’s renowned quality healthcare advocates and professionals with 18 & 24 karats goldmedals, where Hon. Prof. Frimpong Boateng was crowned Africa’s first legend clinician.

The initiative was ultimately built with its prime objective as to establish HELEH Africa First Aid centres– A health center to be built and specially furnished with distinct health accoutrement and professionals trained in telemedicine and the state of the art equipments, to provide tele-first-aid assistance to Victims of both domestic and road traffic emergencies. The center shall run both road and air ambulance services across african to ensure prompt and timely interventions in required situations. These center shall be funded with funds raised from Donner agencies, philanthropist and corporate Africa and at the legend’s recommend location.

This year, the organizers and associates of the event gracefully invite participants and beneficiaries to “FEEL” creative in healthcare and wellness administration, focusing on the following sectors; Healthcare and Wellness, Pharma (Rx), Health Tech and Health-Agro-Processing, under the theme, “INSPIRING HOLISTIC QUALITY HEALTHCARE & WELLNESS FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC ENHANCEMENT, THROUGH PAN-AFRICANISM”. This edition would be characterized by the under-listed activities:
I. Corporate Health Breakfast Meeting For CEOs & Heads of Institutions focusing on; Stress management, Non-communicable diseases and sedentary lifestyle, Exercise and diet, Erectile dysfunction, andropause, menopause and prostate cancer.

II. A quality healthcare leadership and empowerment summit for young health practitioners, seeking to nurture more creative and versatile healthcare professionals.

The climax shall be the Grand Celebration (Awards Night) to gather the crème de la crème in the health fraternity and stakeholders to network, feast and be celebrated.
The night shall keenly celebrates Dr Kenneth Aboah, a consultant Urologist with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi as the legend clinician for this edition.
Dr. Carol Mae Jemison, from the United States of America is being keenly celebrated as the global African -American legend clinician, for being the first black (African-American) female

doctor and astronaut to work in space, but mainly for her act of bravery and leap of faith in saving an African life when she worked in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Other prominent nominees and prospective awardees for this year’s edition include; the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana – H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo Addo, for her contribution to the building of the KATH Mother and Child Unit and many other health initiatives she single handedly spearheaded as we as the upcoming KATH project, Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, a posthumous honour for her bravery during the fight against EBOLA which led to her death, the Cuban Government, for their contribution in providing doctors to African countries over the years, Dr. Ola Orekunrin of Flying Doctors Nigeria fame, for running the first state of the art air ambulance services in Africa, Prof. Emeritus Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, for his contribution to health capacity building and advocacy, The Shuga TV Series – MTV, as the most outstanding HIV awareness and advocacy TV series, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for his health charities, malnutrition initiatives and key contribution to healthcare campaigns in Africa, Dr. Siaw Agyapong, for his immense contribution towards achieving quality environmental healthcare through sanitation, Kwame Sefa Kayi, for being one of Africa’s renowned broadcast journalist to embark on such a relevant lifesaving campaign on saving preterm babies by raising funds to provide incubators for pre-mature babies, Dr Ncumisa Jilata, for being the youngest neurosurgeon in Africa, Mr. Kwasi Twum for being a staunch expediter of health initiatives, JICA for their unparalleled contribution towards quality healthcare delivery in Africa as well as Dr Felix Anyah and Professor Jacob Plange-Rhule among others Led by Media Men Ghana together with other key partners across Ghana and Africa, we believe this initiative would promote and inspire Significant development in the health sector across africa, facilitate intra-ECOWAS trade / relations and tourism to ensure positive social impact for job success and socio-economic enhancement.
