NDC Race: Sammy Gyamfi Sails Through Vetting

Outspoken member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has finally been vetted by the party’s Vetting Committee.

Host of Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Osei Bonsu who broke the news on his show Friday said he is the first on the ballot.

He said he was taken through the processes and later given the green light.

News broke out within the week that Samy Gyamfi, who for the past a year and a half has ‘tormented’ the NPP government on their style of leadership and marking them against their campaign promises was disqualified by the NDC’s Vetting Committee for not meeting the criteria needed to contest for a National Executive position as prescribed in the party’s constitution.

Inside sources say Gyamfi’s supposed disqualification was premised on Article 40 (2) of the NDC Constitution which states that “A member of the party is not qualified to vie for a National Executive Committee position unless the member has held an executive position within the party or government before seeking election”.

But the rumours were debunked by National Organiser of the party, Kofi Adams.

Samy Gyamfi after his emergence on the national scene as a communications person for the NDC has distinguished himself creditably with respect to projecting the stance of the party on national issues.

Based on his exploits, he declared his intentions to contest for the position of National Communications Officer.

Now that Sammy has successfully sailed through the vetting processing, he is set to battle it out with Fred Agbenyo who has been around for a while.

The Vetting Committee of the NDC is made up of the following; General Carl Modey, Hon. Hajia Laadi Ayamba, Hon. Marrieta Brew Oppong and Hon. Magnus Kofi Amoatey.
