Kotoko Appoint C.K. Akonnor As Head Coach

The Porcupine Warriors have sealed a move with the former Ghana captain who takes over at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko have confirmed C.K Akonnor as new head coach after signing a three-year deal on Monday.
He succeeds Paa Kwesi Fabin, who resigned last month.

Akonnor, 44, mutually terminated his contract with regional rivals Ashanti Gold three months ago and was linked with Hearts of Oak as well as Aduana Stars.

He has been tasked with winning the Ghana Premier League.

"Kotoko have signed a three-year contract with coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor with the former Black Stars captain expected to lead the technical bench till 2021," a club statement read.

"The signing was done at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi on Monday October 1, 2018 with Kotoko represented by chief executive officer, George Amoako, with the backing of management members Yaw Amo Sarpong, Samuel Sarfo Duku (esq), Edmund Ackah and Nana Kwame Dankwah.

"After the signing, Akonnor said he is bringing on board a philosophy he calls the ‘Agroball’ which combines entertainment with goals and hopes to get the support of the club’s hierarchy, including the supporters," the statement added.

Akonnor has become the seventh coach to join Kotoko in three seasons.
