I’m Happy To Play Again - Atsu

Newcastle winger, Christian Atsu, has expressed delight over his return to the starting XI of his English club during their 0-2 loss to Leicester City over the weekend.

Atsu, who has been inconsistent in Rafael Benitez’s squad this season, featured prominently and was among the star performers during the game.

Unfortunately, he could not translate that into goals as he expressed disgust for not finding the back of the net, allowing the club of his international teammate, Daniel Amartey, to walk away with the maximum points.

Atsu who was yet to register his name on the scoresheet despite showing promising signs in the team’s pre-season tour to Germany and Australia told Chronicle that he hates to see his side lose because he sees it as a duty to help his side win.

“I see it as my responsibility so from that point of view I’m disappointed that I didn’t score or the team couldn’t get the win.

“I hate it when I play and the team we lose. We are all supporting the team and want to give to the team. Whenever you are on the pitch you don’t want to be losing”, he indicated.

Last season, he contributed two goals for the club but was yet to replicate that this season leaving the Magpies on the drop zone of the league log.

But the Ghanaian international wants to maintain his form and play a part in each game of the club including their next assignment against Manchester United this weekend.

“I want to be involved in every game - whether it’s Man United or Leicester. We know it will be a tough game for both teams. We have to stick together.

“We can’t lose our heads and the big teams don’t get beaten three or four times in a row. We have to change things ourselves”, the player stated.
