344 GETFUND Project Documents Can't Be Traced

It has emerged that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND), is unable to trace contract documents on about 350 projects executed under former President John Dramani Mahama.

GETFUND has therefore asked such contractors to provide contract documents on such projects to enable it pay the contract sum.

To that effect, management of GETFUND have posted on its notice board, a list of 344 companies and projects which documents cannot be traced by the institution.

"The list hereunder provides information on payment certificates (contracts) for which contract documents are not available in our offices. The respective Consultants are hereby requested ti submit the contract documents to enable us process the listed payment certificates currently in our custody", said the notice signed by the GETFUND Administrator, Richard A Boadu.

Meanwhile, the government has made available a total amount of $500 million to be paid to contractors who are owed arrears.

This is according to the Executive Secretary of the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana, Cherry Emmanuel Awusanya.

He told Citi News that the amount covers 90 per cent of the outstanding debt.

This comes only a few days after the Association threatened to embark on a demonstration if the government did not honor its promise to pay them.

The Executive Secretary of the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana, Cherry Emmanuel Awusanya in a Citi News interview said although the money was yet to hit their account, they had seen evidence of government’s efforts to pay them their monies.
