Kokrokoo Charities Donates 20th & 21st Incubators To Kwahu-Atibie Gov't Hospital

Kokrokoo Charities, the social intervention initiative set up by Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning Show, aimed at identifying and addressing critical social needs in Ghana, under its current "Project 100" initiative, has donated two of the medical equipment to the Kwahu-Atibie Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.

Appropriately named "Project 100 Incubators", the project seeks to equip neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) of health facilities with incubators, whiles also giving mothers hope and keeping children alive.

The two incubators which cost $10000 each, was funded by the Chief Executive Officer of Midwest Ghana Ltd, Mike Twum-Barimah, to save lives of preterm babies in the hospital.

The Kokrokoo Charities team led by the current GJA Journalist of the Year, Kwami Sefa Kayi and Director of Programmes for the Foundation, Dennis Adutwum, have since the inception of the Foundation given out 21 incubators across the country.

The donation to the Kwahu-Atibie hospital adds up to the 20th and 21st infant incubators.

The Atibie Government Hospital was constructed over 60 years ago but the facility has not seen any major structural changes.

Dr Arko Akoto-Ampaw, Medical Superintendent of the hospital at Kwahu-Atibie, who received the incubators on behalf of the hospital, thanked the foundation for the kind gesture.

According to him, the hospital had only one incubator, and strongly believed the addition of two more incubators, would greatly save lives of infants.

He further added that the incubators would also enhance the hospital’s flagship initiative dubbed Project Club 36; a pregnancy school that educates women on the delivery process.

Mr Dennis Adutwum, Programmes Director of Kokrokoo Foundation, told Peacefmonline.com on the sidelines that in the coming days, the Foundation would present other set of incubators to hospitals in the Upper East and Upper West Regions.

Hospitals that have so far benefitted from the Project 100 Incubators programme include the Police Hospital and the La General Hospital in Accra, Tema General Hospital, the Prestea Government Hospital in the Western Region, the Nsawam Government Hospital in the Eastern Region, the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital, Volta Regional Hospital popularly known as Trafalgar in Ho, among others.
