Tagoe To Make Entry Into WBO Ranking

Emmanuel "Game Boy" Tagoe, is likely to break into the next ranking by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO), after recording a unanimous win over Namibian opponent Moses Paulus in the WBO Africa Lightweight Championship in the early hours of Sunday.

Tagoe, who once held the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Lightweight title, forfeited the title, after failing to defend is seeking to break into the higher ranks of a more prestigious WBO.

The Ghanaaian champion would also be eyeing a unification with the WBO Champion in the Pacific in a bid to enhance his chances of taking a shot at the world title in the near future according to information gathered by the GNA Sports.

After a long absence from the ring, he made positive comeback, with all the three judges scoring 120-110, 120-109, 120-109 in favour of the Ghanaian.

Tagoe, who has been eyeing a world title in the WBO and WBC categories, showed signs of seriousness throughout the bout, as he avoided his usual unnecessary antics and applied strict boxing techniques like jabbing, body punches and occasional hooks to outdo his opponent.

Right from the start of the game, Tagoe applied series of jabs especially with the right hand and occasionally delivered the right punches though most of them did not land rightly.

However, his consistent jabs on the face, body punches and occasional ferocious attacks denied his much taller opponent the opportunity to land any significant punches.

It was a fight that rarely saw any hefty punches from the two boxers, perhaps due to the cautiousness and style in the right.

With the exception rounds round eight, 11 and 12, where both boxers made some hot exchanges, the remaining rounds were not significantly different with Tagoe dominating each of the rounds with accurate jabs.

The outcome of the fight was therefore not a surprise one, as the Ghanaian was the better fighter on the night and walks away with an undefeated records.

Tagoe, 29, (30 fights, 14 knockouts, no defeat) would now be seeking to make further inroads into the WBO ranking with more fights with the ultimate aim of grabbing the world title soon.
