Government’s ‘Determination Will Lead Nowhere’ – Kwakye Ofosu

A former Deputy Minister for Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the Akufo-Addo government has developed an insatiable appetite for borrowing due to its determination to deliver on its mandate.

According to him, this determination by the government will lead nowhere, as it has already taken Ghanaians off track.

“The determination of this government is going nowhere,” he said on TV3 New Day Monday, and noted the economy is deteriorating, a situation he claimed has led to massive corruption among the government’s cabinet.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu who served under John Mahama’s government said Akufo-Addo government has resorted to an interest in borrowing even though they condemned borrowing when they were in opposition.

Last year, the government borrowed 73 billion cedis excluding external borrowing, and has borrowed more this year, which he said contradicts what the then government in opposition said in its manifesto.

“This government has developed an voracious appetite for borrowing even though they described it as a lazy man’s approach in economic government,” he recounted.

From his assessment, there is hardship in the country and Ghanaians have admitted to this situation including judges hence the Akufo-Addo government would  in 2020 be voted out of office by Ghanaians.

“This government would be assessed by their own principles would be kicked out by Ghanaians’’ he stated.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu noted Ghanaians do not owe the government an 8year term as suggested by MP for Efutu, Afenyo Marking, stating non- performing government does not deserve a second term.
