Afa Abdul Malik, an Arabic instructor at Taufikia Islamic Primary School in the Northern Region, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.
The suspect is alleged to have forcibly had anal sex with the girl around the school during Arabic classes.
Having sustained severe injuries, the victim (name withheld) is currently on admission at the Tamale Teaching Hospital responding to treatment.
According to doctor’s report, the victim was defiled and the report had been presented to the police to assist in investigations.
However, DAILY GUIDE gathered that the suspect’s family is pleading with the victim’s family to resolve the matter between the two families.
Alhaji Nuhu, father of the victim, told DAILY GUIDE that when his daughter came back home from Arabic classes, he realized she was not feeling well, and he went and bought some medicines for her.
According to him, her daughter’s pain persisted. She later told them that an instructor had forcibly had anal sex with her.
He said when she revealed the incident to them they quickly rushed to the school but they were told the instructor had gone home so they proceeded to where he resides and arrested him. They eventually handed him over to the police.
The family is therefore urging the police to make sure the suspect is dealt with severely to deter others from doing same.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he sexually abused the victim.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emmanuel Holortu said the police report had revealed that she bled severely from the mouth, nose, vagina and anus.
According to DSP Holortu, the suspect had been charged with defilement and would soon be arraigned.
