AWCON 2018: "We Won’t Repeat Past Mistakes" – Cameroon Coach

Joseph Ndoko, Head coach of the Cameroon female national team, has noted that his side have learnt their lessons over the period and would not repeat similar mistakes that has cost them the trophy in recent finals.

The Lioness of Cameroon have played in consecutive finals in the last two editions of the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in 2014 and 2016 - a tournament they hosted.

However, Ndoko’s side have another chance at winning the ultimate for the first time in their history, but would have to pass a first test against Mali in their opening game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, November 17 at 18:30 GMT.

Ndoko in a pre-match conference said, they were over their disappointments in the past and have learnt their mistakes. He said this time was an opportunity for them to make amends and correct all their mistakes.

“We have lost many finals. We made several mistakes in our previous games and have learnt our lessons. We have made corrections and hope to apply it here. We will prove what we have done so far and that begins in the Mali game,” he noted.

Cameroon is one of the tournament’s favourites having played in each edition of the tournament, since its inception in 1991.
