Ameyaw school gets new block

Mr. Alex Kyeremeh, Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, has called on parents to take advantage of the provision of educational infrastructure by government and send their children, especially the girls to school. He said this would equip children with knowledge and skills to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development. Mr. Kyeremeh made the call when he cut the sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block, office and store, as well as toilet and urinal for Ameyaw Local Authority Primary and Junior High School in Techiman. The project that is estimated at GHC 109,604.15 was being executed with funds from the District Development Fund. Mr. Kyeremeh advised school children to learn hard in order to become effective leaders in future. He asked the Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) and School Management Committees (SMCs) to prevent the encroachment of school lands. Mr. Kyeremeh commended the PTA and the SMC of the School for supporting the students to excel in a science and quiz competition held in Sunyani last year. Mr. Appiah Kusi, Deputy Municipal Director of Education, lauded the Assembly for providing infrastructure to promote teaching and learning in schools. Mr. Ofosu Korsah, Assembly Member for the Dwomo Electoral Area, commended the Assembly for the equitable execution of projects in the area. Mr. Kofi Num, PTA chairman, deplored the encroachment of the school�s lands and appealed to the Assembly to help solve the problem.
