Articulator Drivers Warned Against Parking In Front Of Toll Booth

Mr Kwasi Amoako-Atta, the Minister of Roads and Highway, has directed all drivers of articulated vehicles not to park in front of the Tema Motor way Toll Booth.

The directive according to the Minister was to ease congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles on the Toll Booth stretch.

Mr Amoako-Atta gave the warning in Accra when he visited Tema Toll Booth to inspect situation on the issue.

In view of the situation, the Minister had instructed the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highways Authority to erect a sign post in front of the Toll Booth, warning articulated vehicle drivers from parking on the stretch.

He said "the Ministry will not wait for something untoward to happen before they react".

Mr Amoako-Atta said a lot of articulated vehicles particularly those carting cocoa normally park in front of the Tema Toll Booth, making it difficult for other vehicles to access the Toll Booth.

"Our investigations revealed that about five or more articulated drivers parked in front of the Toll Booth and allow their mates to register their waybill at a shed close to the Toll Booth," he said.

Mr Amoako-Atta said the incident had caused congestion and inconvenience to motorists especially during rush hours, which must not be tolerated.

"This indiscipline must stop, we will not condone this acts of lawlessness on our roads".
He directed all articulated vehicle drivers approaching the Toll Booth to pay the appropriate fees.
