Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of Liberian Senate Calls On Ghanaian Counterpart

The Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Liberian Senate Ambassador H. Dan Morais has said "there are much opportunities in Ghana and Liberia that each of the two countries are yet to tap for the benefits of citizens of both countries."

Ambassador Dan Morais made the comment today when he called on the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Ghana's Parliament Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh at his Office at Parliament House.

Ambassador Morais emphasised the need for ECOWAS member countries to work hard to implement various protocols and initiatives put in place by ECOWAS to promote the speedy development of the member countries.

He said "the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Liberian Senate and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Ghana will collaborate to strengthen trade between the two countries".

He commended Ghana for its enviable multiparty democracy since 1993.

Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh described the visit by Ambassador Dan Morais as highly impressive.

He said "trade liberalisation among African countries had been one of the major campaign issues emphasised by past political leaders of the continent. However the volume of trade among African countries still remains minimal which must improve to better the lives of the people," Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh said.

"The One District/One Factory policy introduced by the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo will require markets outside the country such as Liberia," he added.
