George Boateng Picks NDC Forms To Challenge Mahama & Co

A former branch executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Boateng, is heading to the party’s headquarters to pick his nomination forms.

It is the final day for aspirants to pick the forms at a non-refundable fee of GH¢20,000

Mr Boateng says he wants to contest former President John Dramani Mahama, whose forms have reportedly been picked by some Asawase constituents.

Boateng, who was the Youth Organiser at the Oyarifa Branch of the NDC, picked forms in the run-up to the party’s 2015 primary as the sole challenger to then President Mahama.

But his forms were deemed to have been falsified while the receiving officer was said to be illegitimate.

NDC’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia called for a psychiatric assessment of Mr Boateng, claiming the party needed sound persons to contest its leadership position.

But Mr Boateng later said the party’s executives had colluded to prevent him from challenging Mr Mahama, whom he claimed had disappointed Ghanaians.

He was later seen on campaign platforms of then opposition candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mr Boateng was even given an opportunity on stage during New Patriotic Party’s final rally in December, 2016 to address supporters.

He told 3news.com on his way to pick his nomination forms that his cheque for the GH¢20,000 is ready while hoping the legitimate officer will be at the Adabraka headquarters to take him through the process.
