Kennedy Agyapong, has a way of ruffling feathers to attract attention to himself. Anytime, he raises objection about any deal, as far as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is concerned, it is not an expression of love for the country, but because he was denied the contract.
The man has mastered the art of blackmail, he has criticized everyone, and every political party in this country, yet he has benefited more than any single individual, since he joined mainstream politics, when he was elected in 2000 to represent the people of Assin North Constituency in the Central region.
Kennedy Agyapong, has had more than his fair share of the proverbial national cake. He is the single largest supplier of electricity poles to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
When the NPP assumed the reins of power, he wanted an existing contract, Margins, had with the National Identification Authourity (NIA), given to him. When the deal did not materialize, he was all out in the media, accusing Ken Attefuah, of corruption.
Greed cannot even aptly describe the man, who thinks he is smarter than the 25 million Ghanaians.
Yesterday at Parliament, answering a question from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey on the method of procurement in the award of a ¢100 million contract to imperial world ventures for the supply of streetlights., the minister of Energy, John Peter Amewu, indicated that no law had been breached in awarding the contract on the basis of restricted tendering.
The humongous amount is tells a reprehensible tale of graft and insensitivity to the plight of ordinary Ghanaians, who pined away in penury and deprivation, while a few corrupt individuals with access to the invaluable resource have a field day.
Imagine some other Ghanaian, had won this contract, what Kennedy Agyapong would say, the unprintable words he would use on the person and the government or sector minister.
We find disturbing Kennedy Agyapong’s, misplaced swagger of authourity, even when he is eating with both hands.
Commenting on Adom FM on Tuesday, on the US$12million contract the government of Ghana, has signed with Zipline to enable government fly blood and other health essentials to deprived areas, Kennedy Agyapong said “What we desperately need are drones that can be flying common sense to all those at the Jubilee House”.
According to him “First things first; before you take the drone to deliver the drugs, you need to check the quality of the drugs and the facilities or the hospitals. I think it’s not a priority. Until we have state of the art hospitals, clinics and polyclinics that can deliver and prevent us from travelling outside for healthcare, then the drones are not a good idea,”
By this same logic, are all the roads in good shape, before his wife’s company is given 100 million Ghana cedis contract to provide street lights?
Such pretensions as if he cares for the country, can only be diversionary intended to create the impression that he is not part of the create, loot and share, when the contrary is the case.
