Odi Ahenkan Commissions Community Hospital (PHOTOS)

He started in a small corner in Aboabo in the Eastern Region, but has managed to climb his way up the ladder of success.

Even though he claims he has not achieved much success yet, renowned radio presenter, Odi Ahenkan Kwame Yeboah has been able to create jobs and put smiles on the faces of his townfolks and even those outside of his immediate community.

He first started with Cashtech Susu Ventures, providing means of employment to jobless youth in the country, and then went on to put up a library in his hometown.

But perhaps, that was just the beginning of greater things to come.

He has now managed to construct a Community Hospital near Amasaman (Stadium road), a suburb of Accra, where he resides.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com during the commissioning of the hospital, Odi Ahenkan said he gets heartbroken whenever his neighbours have to travel all the way to the Amasaman General Hospital at the risk of losing their lives.

“It saddens my heart when people have to go commute all the way from the residences for medical care at the Amasaman Hospital….apart from the distance, they stand the risk of losing their lives or that of their loved ones. I therefore decided to put up this facility in my community to bridge the gap in healthcare”.

The health facility; Afrakomah Community Hospital was named after his mother of blessed memory.

The facility comprises of a theatre, male and female ward, children’s ward, labour ward, OPD, pharmacy, laboratory, and an administration block. They also have a gyenacologist, two health physcians, two midwives, eight nurses, two lab technicians, two pharmacy assistants, and others.

The Aburihene and Adontenhene of Akuapeman, Nana Otubuo Gyan Kwesi who helped in commissioning the hospital, commended Odi Ahenkan for the gesture and urged others to do same and not wait on government all the time.
