‘Slow Down On Projects’

Director of communications of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoah, is urging the Akufo-Addo administration to ‘slow down’ on new projects and focus more on existing ones and invest in them.

Speaking on Tuesday in an interview on TV, the Adenta MP was of the view that although the party has so far done considerably well for Ghanaians since it took over from the previous Mahama-led administration, it needed to focus more on ongoing initiatives instead of introducing new ones, adding that the incumbent government was doing much with regard to projects in the country.

“I believe strongly that we need to take a step back, slow down on new initiatives and invest more in what we have done”, he noted.

The public continues to wonder if indeed the NPP is delivering on its mandate with its myriads of promises to Ghanaians in the run-up to the 2016 general elections.

He also pointed out that many of the already existing projects were yielding results but was quick to add that they needed fine-tuning.

“I think we are doing too much and that we will benefit from consolidating what we have done and investing more in where we have gotten. Many of the things we are doing are churning out results, but those results need fine-tuning. Many of our promises have been validated because we are now implementing them as policies and running the budget through them,” he stated.

Campaign Promises

Mr. Asamoah noted that the NPP, then in opposition during the run-up to the 2016 general elections, made several campaign promises to Ghanaians and has delivered on some.

According to him, the good deeds of the government are gradually clearing the “mess” left behind by the Mahama government.

“We have to work together so that the things that we told the Ghanaian people that got them to give us their confidence and trust we can deliver them. We’ve delivered some; there are still others to go. But if we all continue to work hard and keep our eyes on the ball, I’m very confident that when the four years are over, we will be able to give a good account of ourselves to the people of Ghana,” he said.
