I Have 2.4b Cash Locked Up At MenzGold – Mawrice Ampaw

Legal Practioner, lawyer Maurice Ampaw has revealed that he has close to 2.4b Ghana Cedi Cash locked up at Menzgold, the gold trading firm that has been shut down by the securities and exchange commission of Ghana.

According to him he is not bothered about the fact that his money is locked up because he benefited immensely from the Gold company and that he will never count his loss.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Programme, an aggrieved Maurice Ampaw indicated that there is nothing wrong with people who invested with MenzGold because nothing showed the company was not operating illegally since Bank of Ghana and the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) did not speak about their illegality since their operation in 2005.

“I realized a company that has existed for about five years whiles it has operated under the watch of government, was able to sponsor Premier League, who took the entertainment industry by storm and its boss even met President Nana Addo."

Mr. Ampaw argued that, if institutions funded and mandated to monitor the authenticity of all investor companies fails, then they must be held responsible, not the company.

“I am not worried about my money but rather thinking about the ordinary Ghanaian who went for loan to invest and the many customers whose moneys are locked up at Menzgold due to irresponsible act of an institution who supposedly refused to monitor their activities,” he stressed.
