GenCED, AWMA Trains Media On Labour Laws And Gender Reporting

The media as well as workers in general have been advised to be familiar with the labour laws of the country to avoid unfair treatment from employers.

Labour Analyst, Seth Abloso said most employers take advantage of the innocence of their workers and treat them unfairly but if "they are aware of the labour laws, they will be able to fight for their rights to be upheld"

Speaking to the media during a workshop on labour laws and gender reporting, Mr Abloso said there is the need for the media to also be familiar with the labour laws to help in their reportage.

The workshop was organised by Gender Centre for Empowering Development (GenCED) and Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA).

The media was also taken through Gender reporting especially on women's issues as well as Gender sensitive reporting and its indicators for the newsroom.
