First Lady To Host 6th Merck African Asian Luminary In October

Over 1,000 healthcare providers, policy makers and researchers from over 60 African and Asian countries will storm Ghana in October to attend the 6th Merck African Asia Luminary.

The Conference which is aimed at bringing stakeholders together to discuss the management of diseases in Africa, will be hosted by First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

The 6th Merck African Asia Luminary; an annual event, is an initiative of Merck Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Merck Germany. 

The First Lady will co-chair the event together with Dr Rasha Kelej, the Chief Executive Officer of Merck Foundation.

This was made known at the launch of Merck's 'More than a mother' campaign, Monday at the Labadi Beach Hotel.

The “More Than a Mother” initiative, was put together by Merck Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Merck Germany in partnership with the First lady of Ghana to underscore its commitment to build healthcare capacity in the country and to finalise discussions on the 6th Merck Africa Asia Luminary.

During the launch, Rasha Kelej thanked the First Lady for accepting to be an ambassador for Merck's 'More than a mother' campaign in Ghana as well as accepting to host the 6th edition of the Conference.

On her part, the First Lady expressed excitement to partner with Merck and to host and co-chair the conference in October, 2019.
