Murdered Tema Port Boss Was Not Raped – Police

The murdered Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in charge of the Tema Port, Mrs Josephine Asante, was not sexually assaulted at the time of her murder, the Ghana Police Service has revealed.

This follows some media reports alleging that the police found semen on the deceased during investigations after the houseboy for the deceased was picked up for questioning.

Mrs Asante was stabbed to death at her residence in Tema Community 25.

The murder happened Saturday night after she had returned from a party for senior staff.

She was killed in her bedroom.

Her assailants, according to information gathered by Class News, locked the bedroom and flung the key on the compound of the house as they made their getaway.

Asante’s body was found in a puddle of blood the next morning after her neighbours saw the key to her room on the ground and opened the door.

Nothing was stolen in the room. Her laptop, phones, jewellery, and everything else were intact.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu has, however, said the security authority found nothing to suggest that the murdered Tema Port boss was sexually assaulted.

ACP Eklu said: “The forensic examination we conducted indicated that the lady was not raped unlike what is in the media. There was no sexual assault on the lady and we can confirm that. We are looking at other possibilities in terms of the investigations we are conducting”.

He also indicated that the police are investigating the matter to find the killers and unravel the circumstances surrounding her murder.

She was survived by a 12-year-old boy who has been relocated by the management of GPHA.
