The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Otokunor has asked flagbearer aspirants of the party not to do things that will give the impression that they "are on another mission other than seeking to lead the party".

"We beg our comrades who are interested in leading the party; we are all fighting a common course to strengthen the party; we should try as much as possible to do things that will not divide our front; that will make it look like we are on another mission other than seeking to lead the party," he pleaded.

Six aspirants of the party issued a petition questioning the crediblity of the company assigned to print the ballot papers for the upcoming presidential primary.

According to the six aspirants namely: Alban SK Bagbin, Nurudeen Ali, Sylvester Mensah, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Goosie Tanoh and Joshua Alabi, the party should award the contract for the printing of the ballot papers to a trustworthy firm such as the Assembly Press, to ensure that some of the irregularities that rocked the party’s national executive election held in November 2018 do not recur.

Reacting to this during an interview on Citi eyewitness news, Peter Otokunor described as 'unfortunate and disturbing' the fact that the 'senior people' decided to resort to social media instead of the party's structures.

"It’s surprising and disturbing to wake up in the morning and read this from the aspirants on social media. It’s unfortunate and I think it takes away the hand of good faith . . . we read the petition over the weekend in the media and we think that is not good. They must look at this carefully. If they have any concerns our doors are always opened . . . as senior people, they must konw that we cannot continue to wash our dirty linen in public," he said.
