Bye-election: Stop Campaigning For Lydia Alhassan To Occupy Her Husband's Seat - NPP Told

Member of Parliament [MP] for the Odododiodoo Constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has charged members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to desist from campaigning for Madam Lydia Alhassan to be the next MP for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, when Kwesi Brempong of the NDC can perfectly occupy that position.

Madam Lydia Alhassan, widow of the late Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency MP, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko is contesting for the parliamentary seat in the upcoming bye-election on Thursday.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his NPP should rally behind Kwesi Brempong if they want the best for Agyarko and his family, as well as the integrity of their party,” he stated.

According to him, it will be "wrong and a bad day" for the New Patriotic Party [NPP] to present Madam Lydia Alhassan as their candidate for the by-election when there is "still pain in our hearts" for losing Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

“Her presence in the House will not bring peace amongst the wives and family of the late Agyarko, because it will reflect anytime she is mentioned,” he noted on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper political discussion.
