Seven people are reported to have suffered gun-shot wounds at the Bawaleshie polling centre in the ongoing by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency following an impasse over the polls.

According to Peace FM’s Senior reporter, Akwesi Agyemang, blood stains could be seen at the polling center near the residence of the National Democratic Congress (NDCs) candidate.

“The injured have reportedly been taken out of the center. One Yaro who is 37 years has been rushed to the 37 Millitary Hospital for surgery. I witnessed the victim being conveyed to the hospital for medical assistance,” he narrated. 

He also claimed that the chaos was triggered by certain unidentified individuals who perceived some electoral malpractice was being perpetrated.

"...it is however, unclear if the architects of the violence belong to a vigilante group associated with the NDC or to the ruling NPP," he stated.
