Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has refuted claims that the attack on members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) during Thursday's by-election that took place at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, was carried out by the ruling party’s Delta Force and Invisible Force.

According to him, it was the security agencies who picked intelligence report that the NDC’s Hawks had gathered in the house of NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate, Delali Kwesi Brempong with machetes and sticks to disrupt the by-election.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Chairman Wontumi as he is affectionately called, said many people including Azorka and other NDC members were present when the security agencies drove out the macho-men away from the polling stations.

“The security agencies picked up intelligence report on the intention of the macho-men and so the security men drove them away from the area. I saw Azorka at the election ground at Bawaleshie.... it is nothing but the wicked intention of the NDC which was prevented and that is what making them anxious,” he recounted.

He described as below the belt the allegation made by the NDC that Invisible and Delta Forces were there and carried out the attack on NDC members; thus, he was at the scene when the security men carried out their duty and he did not see any Delta and Invisible Forces.

“What we saw was that it was the Police Vehicle and the Military, the Immigration and all the forces manning all the polling centres. So I don’t know why they are rather saying that Delta and Invisible Forces attacked NDC members. It is pure lies; there is no truth in this allegation”, he debunked.

Chairman Wontumi again said he saw 5 Pick-ups carrying the NDC Hawks and went to the house of the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate as some of them carried sticks and machetes and other weapons closed to the polling stations.
