Kotoko Is Poised For Al Hilal Showdown

Mr. Sarfo Duku, the Communications Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has said, the club is well prepared for their first group match in the 2018/19 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Confederation Cup against Al Hilal of Sudan.

     The Porcupine Warriors would play in the group phase of the competition for the first time since 2008, with an away game to Al-Hilal Omdurman of Sudan on Sunday, February 3, at the King Saud University Stadium.

      Kotoko, who are drawn in Group C alongside Zambian sides Zesco United and Nkana FC and would relish a good start to their campaign with a positive result in Sudan.

      Mr. Sarfo Duku in an interview with the GNA Sports said, the team was prepared and highly motivated for the match.

     He said, knowing that the match would be played under floodlight, the team has trained under floodlights to get acclimatised with night games.

     “We had our first training under floodlight on Sunday and even played a friendly match with Storm Academy and we beat them 2-0,” he said.

      He added that every registered player for the competition was fit and motivated for the game.  

      “All the registered players for Africa are in good health so far, except Danlad Ibrahim who is with the national u-20 team.”

     He said the Ghanaian community in Sudan had also assured them of support, adding that, “we know that they would give us a wonderful reception.”

     Asante Kotoko left the shores of Ghana on Thursday afternoon with a 30man contingent. The match is scheduled at 18:00hrs in Sudan but 16:00 local time.
