Anokye Supremo Won't Be Cremated - Manager Dispels Rumors

Isaac Kwabena Zachariah, Manager of the late highlife musician Anokye Supremo aka Daddy Lumba Jr., has dismissed suggestions that the musician should be cremated in India if the family cannot raise the specified amount to fly the corpse to Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with host Kwame Adjetia on 'Entertainment Ghana' on Neat FM, the Manager noted that the family is not going to cremate the body of the deceased.

According to him, it is against the customs of the family for the late musician to be burned down and his ashes sent to the family in his memory.

The Manager addressed this issue after the host asked whether they family was considering the option of cremation since India supports it.

“Our customs don’t support that. It is not like the family insistently wants to bring back the body home but it is a customary rite. Even if you have to cremate somebody, you have to follow some customs. You can’t go ahead and just cremate it,” he stated categorically.

He however appealed for funds to foot the hospital bills and any other costs involved in conveying the remains of the deceased to Ghana.

Anokye Supremo passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 after developing tumor in his head and undergoing surgery at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Mukundapur in India.
