Let Bygones be Bygones . . . "Why Do We Vote For Change Then"? - Agbenyo Condemns Ayawaso By-election Violence

NDC devout member, Fred Agbenyo has condemned the recent attacks on some electorates during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

The by-election erupted into chaos when some armed security personnel indiscriminately fired gun shots at electorates at the Bawaleshie polling station in the constituency on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

About eight people sustained various degrees of gun wounds and were rushed to the Legon hospital for medical treatment.

Wading into discussions regarding the violence at the by-election, Fred Agbenyo told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' that the culture of engaging in reprisal attacks due to past events by a party should not be encouraged in the country.

He bemoaned the actions by the armed men on the electorates saying it is not a good sign of a nation that seeks to progress.

Fred Agbenyo cited attacks on the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George who received a hefty slap from a security personnel and the shooting incident, and therefore called on the President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government not to use the administration to reciprocate the violence that perhaps was visited upon the New Patriotic Party in the past.

“So, if somebody has committed evil in the past, should we perpetuate it? So, it has happened before, 8 years ago, 12 years ago, 30 years ago; so should we continue to do that? Why are we a nation then? Why do we vote for change then?” he questioned.
