Ya-Na Appeals To Yendi Peace Committee

Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II has appealed to the Yendi Peace Committee to continue with their good work in promoting peace in Yendi and Dagbon as a whole.

He said they started with the education on peace promotion since 1994 during the northern region conflict, when he was enskinned as the chief of Kpunkpano

“It was the Yendi Peace Committee that provided water during the conflict,” and thanked them for their good work in the series of meetings to promote peace.

Ya-Na Abukari II made the appeal when the members of the committee called on him at the Gbewaa Palace at Yendi to express their appreciation to his enskinment as the new Ya-Na.

He hoped that the restoration of peace in Yendi and Dagbon as a whole would create a conducive atmosphere for the creation of jobs for the youth in the area.

He sgave the assurance that his leadership would see all of them as Dagombas and not on the hitherto Andan-Abudu lines and urged the committee to work harder to achieve greater feats.

Bishop Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, Bishop of Yendi Catholic Diocese said although as a member of the National Peace Council that had already visited the palace, it was still expedient to lead another group that he was part of.

He gave the assurance that, they would continue to pray for him and continue with peace education.

Bishop Boi-Nai said they had to work harder to obtain perfect peace as no development could occur without it.

He announced that they established the St.Vincent College of Eduction in Yendi to train teachers to teach in their own communities.

The committee members include; Bishop Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai Patron of the Committee, Alhaji Abdul-Majeed Mohammed vice Patron, Mr Peter Atia Secretary, Mr Abukari Andani Former Kpatia Regent Assistant Secretary, Alhaji Issahaku Fuseini Member, Mr Alidu Saaka Member.
